The house recently got a new roof and new air-conditioning.

The four-bedroom, 2½-bath Cape Cod house in New Britain Borough was built in 1959. But Mike Ward said “it takes you back to another time.”Mike and his wife, Erin, bought the house in 2022 after living in a townhouse in Holland, wanting more room for themselves and their son who is now 9 months old.

Erin liked that the 2,484-square foot house isn’t quite a traditional Cape Cod and she liked the warm feel of the neighborhood. While the house was in good shape when they bought it, the Wards did considerable work on it, much of it by Mike and his father, a carpenter. The updated kitchen has quartz countertops, white cabinetry, and recessed and pendant lighting. A bay window offers views of the backyard and lets in abundant natural light. And the three-season sunroom also has views of the backyard.
