House GOP pushes energy overhaul

"The GOP messaging bill sets up an occasion for a conversation with the Senate that could potentially lead to a compromise," Christine Tezak, a managing director with research firm Clearview Energy Partners, wrote in a note to clients Monday.the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other industry groups described in a letter to Congress Monday as"broken."
But any efforts to loosen the National Environmental Policy Act, the environmental law governing many large infrastructure projects, is likely to face opposition from progressive Democrats, who scuttled efforts by Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., to pass permitting reform legislation last year — despite support from President Joe Biden.
