The chairman asked Loren Merchan for contracts or invoices her firm had for marketing work it performed for the campaigns of President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, who is now the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, and the Democratic National Committee.
Juan Merchan twice denied Trump’s recusal requests, saying that an independent panel determined Loren Merchan’s work for Democratic campaigns did not create a conflict of interest. Trump is expected to argue, however, that Loren Merchan has a “long-standing relationship” with Harris that creates new grounds for recusal.
Federal Election Commission data shows Authentic Campaigns has seen a lucrative 2024 election cycle due in part to Schiff, a Senate candidate and one of Trump’s most vocal critics.
