House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced the creation of a task force to address far-right extremism and rising living costs. The group, led by Rep. Joe Neguse, will push back against Republican policies they blame for escalating expenses. Democrats cite the failure of Republican promises to make life more affordable and criticize the Trump administration's actions, particularly the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., on Monday announced the creation of a new “rapid response task force and litigation working group” which will aim to “push back against far-right extremism.”

“House Democrats are committed to driving down the high cost of living for everyday Americans,” the statement reads. “We recognize that there are far too many people in this country struggling to live paycheck to paycheck. That’s not acceptable in the wealthiest country in the history of the world.” The move comes as Democrats increasingly voice anger over actions taken President Donald Trump. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., told Politico in an interview blame lies with the Senate, which is overseeing the process of confirming Trump’s Cabinet nominees.

Senate Democratic Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., last week also spoke out against the Trump administration, targeting Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency . The presidential advisory committee has begun making inquiries into several federal agencies.
