The UK is feeling the remnants of Hurricane Ian from across the Atlantic
Heavy rain and thunder is expected across Lancashire as the country braces for the fallout from Hurricane Ian.
Strong winds will also arrive this afternoon as the Atlantic jet stream, strengthened by the warm tropical air pushed northwards by the hurricane on Florida's southwest coast, drives an area of low pressure across the country. It is thought that northern Scotland will be most effected by the severe weather conditions, but Lancashire will also be hit with heavy rain, strong winds and cloudy skies.Today, heavy rain is set to fall throughout the early afternoon in each area. The rain will become lighter or even stop by around 6pm. In Lancaster, thunder is forecast between 6pm and 7pm this evening.
The heavy rain isn't expected to carry through into the weekend, but light showers are forecast. On Saturday, there will be a mixture of light showers and sunny intervals throughout the day - turning to cloudy skies at around 7pm.Chief Meteorologist, Paul Gundersen, added more details on what to expect: "A spell of strong winds and heavy rain will push southeast throughout the day.
