The yellow weather warning extends through until Wednesday evening
The Met Office has warned of flooding as heavy downpours continue to batter parts of Greater Manchester.
The wet weather began on Monday, with a yellow weather warning kicking in from 6am this morning . The alert extends until 6pm on Wednesday, September 20. Flooding of some homes and businesses is likely, the forecaster warned, while bus and train services could also be impacted, with longer journey times expected. Yesterday saw disruption on the roads, with one lane closed on the M60 anticlockwise due to flooding, according to traffic alert service Inrix.The Met Office said: "Outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, will affect many parts of the UK on Tuesday and Wednesday.
"The heaviest and most persistent rainfall during this period is expected to affect the high ground of northwest England, northwest Wales and south Wales. Over the course of this 36 hours in these areas, 50-100 mm of rainfall is likely to accumulate widely, with as much as 150-200 mm in some locations.
