Los inmigrantes venezolanos y colombianos que viven en Union Rescue Mission en Los Ángeles dicen que están trabajando en hoteles del sur de California donde los trabajadores están en huelga
Cuando Norelis Vargas se enteró de un trabajo como camarera en un hotel cercano al Aeropuerto Internacional de Los Ángeles, no dudó en presentarse. Vargas, de 39 años, que emigró de Venezuela y entró en EE.UU. hace unos tres meses en busca de asilo, había estado viviendo con su marido y sus cuatro hijos en Union Rescue Mission, un refugio para personas sin hogar en Skid Row, y necesitaba los ingresos.
Los trabajadores migrantes dijeron que no se les informó ni sabían el nombre de la agencia que los contrató. El migrante venezolano Sebastián Atencio, de 34 años, se presentó en Le Méridien Delfina Santa Mónica el 26 de septiembre, durante la reciente oleada de huelgas. Atencio dijo que le dieron una gran carga de trabajo y le obligaron a trabajar sin descansos.
