Miami's Hard Rock Stadium ready to host Copa America final
JON JOHNSON Dothan National got out to an early five-run lead but couldn’t make it stick as Municipal National of Mobile finished off an unbeaten run in the tournament by winning 15-6 in the Diamond Youth Baseball Ozone 12U state championship game at Westgate Park on Sunday.
However, Dothan then beat Eufaula , Auburn Blue and Dothan American to reach the championship game, needing to win twice in order to secure a title. Dothan added a run in the fourth to pull back within 7-6 before Municipal scored four more times in the fourth – which included another solo blast by Ledyard – to take back command.
“We made a few mistakes in the field – a couple of errors here and there – and with a good hitting team like Municipal, you’ve got to get every out you can. You can’t give them extra outs, and that’s what happened.”
