From a woman who suffered the loss of 13 babies to 'at-risk' youth, a central Queensland horse farm is helping people find peace.

The central Queensland mum's love of riding started when she was a little girl and it has helped in her recovery from the toughest time of her life."They're a part of you, whether you are a rider or whether you're somebody who wants either to give them a pat or sit back and watch them."

It was owned by Bob Kohler, and he was running a business with the simple goal of teaching people how to bond with the animals. "Anyone considering EAT should do so in collaboration with a trusted health professional to ensure they make an informed decision."He said the farm was about giving people an outlet.

Specialised providers also visit but work with specific groups like children who have experienced trauma. "There's a lot of general things that people can do to improve their mental wellbeing, including getting out into fresh air, sunshine," she said.Dr Burgess said while alternative therapies could help, they should not be considered the solution to Australia's national mental health crisis.
