Kaizer Chiefs skipper and legend Itumeleng Khune has represented the club with distinction for 17 years. This stat isn't a pretty one though.

Itumeleng Khune was drafted back into the Kaizer Chiefs side against Cape Town City, and that defeat extended an unwanted record.. It’s not the type of record any player wants to have, and certainly not one you’d associate with the great man.. Khune is now in his 17th season with the club he’s served with such distinction. He recently made his 364th appearance for Amakhosi, the most of any player in the club’s PSL era history.

The 2023-24 campaign will be his last at the club as a player. The Glamour Boys have an agonizing wait until their next fixture against Golden Arrows on October 28th. It’s not an ideal time to be waiting around, considering they just suffered their first home league defeat of the season, and their fourth overall in the DStv Premiership this term. Molefi Ntseki’s men are already 13 points off the title pace and leaders Sundowns have a game in hand.
