Eight monkeys have been mysteriously found dead in a Hong Kong zoo, leading to the facility partially closing.Hong Kong's Leisure and Cultural Services Department said in a statement on Monday that the eight dead animals were found in the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens on Sunday. They comprised one De Brazza's monkey, one common squirrel monkey, three cotton-top tamarins and three white-faced sakis.
The Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens released a similar statement to the government department's one, confirming the animal deaths and the ongoing investigation.The park is one of the oldest zoological and botanical institutions in the world and it's the oldest park in Hong Kong, having opened to the public in 1871. It's home to a total of about 158 birds, 93 mammals and 21 reptiles in about 40 enclosures, according to its website.
