Thousands of demonstrators have flooded Hong Kong International Airport to protest alleged police brutality as unrest in the territory enters its tenth week.
Getty Images: Hong Kong’s airport authority has cancelled all flights as thousands of protesters occupied the airport, one of Asia's busiest transport hubs, in the latest escalation of the long-running anti-government protests.
Travellers faced major delays entering or exiting Hong Kong Airport due to the protests, the authority added. Activists and rights campaigners have accused officers of excessive force over reports a woman was blinded in one eye at a demonstration, and polie were filmed firing teargas at protestersProtesters have staged protests in the past at the airport, which is viewed as space safe from police intervention, but previous demonstrations have not impacted on the operations of Asia's fourth busiest airport.
