Docenas de vuelos se cancelaron en Hong Kong el domingo conforme la tormenta tropical Koinu se acercaba a la ciudad sureña china tras dejar un muerto y 300 heridos en Taiwán.
Se esperaba que Koinu pasara a unos 70 kilómetros de Hong Kong el domingo y dejara fuertes precipitaciones, según el Observatorio de Hong Kong. La tormenta pasaría sobre las aguas costeras en la vecina provincia de Guangdong el domingo y el lunes, según las previsiones. Koinu mostraba vientos máximos sostenidos de 90 kilómetros por hora y ráfagas de hasta 122 km/h , según el observatorio.
Hong Kong dijo el domingo que había activado su alerta por tormenta al nivel ocho, lo que en la práctica cerraba el centro de la ciudad, incluidos comercios y escuelas, y reducía la frecuencia del transporte público. Decenas de vuelos con origen y destino en Hong Kong fueron cancelados y el importante puente Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao cerró de forma temporal, según la televisora estatal CCTV.
