Nottinghamshire Police says the incident happened after a man was asked to leave the Alchemist bar

A CCTV appeal has been launched after a member of staff at a Nottingham bar was subjected to homophobic abuse. Nottinghamshire Police says the incident happened at The Alchemist bar on King Street after a man was asked to leave the venue.

The man them became aggressive towards the member of staff, threatening them and making a homophobic comment. The man then left the venue and did not return following the incident, which took place just after 11pm on August 17. Nottinghamshire Police says the incident is being treated as a public order offence and a hate crime. The force has now issued an image of man they want to identify as part of their investigation.

PC James Anderton, who is investigating the incident, said: "Rather than leave the venue as asked, the man became extremely aggressive and used language that would have caused the victim fear, alarm, and distress. No one should have to go into work and face this level of abuse and that is why we are determined to catch the person responsible.

"We have followed a number of lines of inquiry since the incident occurred in August but have not managed to locate the person responsible." Those who recognise the man in the image, or who have any information about the incident in August, are asked to call police on 101 and quote incident number 0808 of August 17.
