Police released an update
The bomb squad was called to a town over the border in Derbyshire after a device was found. A number of homes were evacuated and roads were closed following the discovery in Bolsover.
Derbyshire Constabulary received a report just before 12.35pm on Wednesday about a device, believed to be an old land mine, on some land which is being developed off Welbeck Road. There were road closures in place on Marlpit Lane, between Welbeck Gardens and Farnsworth Farm. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was informed and reviewed the device. A number of residents were asked to leave their homes as a precaution.People were advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes. Shortly after 3pm, a spokesperson for Derbyshire Constabulary said: "The area has now been made safe and the device has been removed.
"Marlpit Lane has reopened and residents are able to return." It is unclear how many homes were evacuated - and no further information is available at this stage. Why not sign up to one of our newsletters by clicking here to keep up with all the latest news from across Nottinghamshire.
