Two men broke into the house in Liverpool and set fire to it before the grenade was found, police say.
Two men, dressed in black, broke into a house before setting fire to it in Parkview Road, Croxteth, Liverpool at about 22:40 GMT on Sunday, Merseyside Police said.The bomb disposal team has been sent to carry out a controlled explosion.
Police said at about 01:00 "a number of homes" were evacuated "as a precaution" and a cordon was in place from Parkview Road to Willow Way and Helford Road.
