The boccia winner has attended a reception at 10 Downing Street and the Paralympics GB event in Birmingham
Paralympic champion Steph McGuire is shining after his golden success in Paris, and says his success “still hasn’t sunk in yet” after a whirlwind month including a visit to Downing Street and star-studded homecoming celebrations.

“When I got through the semi-final I felt confident as I’d reached the end of the competition and was going home with something so I was delighted with that, but David Smith came into my room and said, ‘don’t settle for silver’. Steph arrived home from Paris with the triumphant Paralympics GB team, and attended a special reception for Olympic and Paralympic athletes at 10 Downing Street attended by Sir Keir Starmer and UK Sport chair and former Olympic champion Dame Katherine Grainger.
“It was quite surreal to be at the reception at Downing Street, and to be interviewed on stage at the Homecoming; it was a really nice celebration of para sport.”
