Officials say the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file on the incident is being prepped for the coroner. The Home Office is also reportedly investigating. Home Office representatives have stressed claimants living in temporary accommodation such as the hotel in Kegworth are not being ‘detained’.
Of those awaiting an initial decision on their claim, approximately 110,000 have been waiting for more than six months, according to March statistics released by the government.
