The sophomore is also making a difference now for the Trojans on the field during his first season as the starting placekicker, having connected on 6-of-7 tries through four games.
JON JOHNSON Growing up in Troy and attending Pike Liberal Arts School, Scott Taylor Renfroe always had aspirations of one day playing college football for the hometown Trojans.
“Really, it was just knowing my team still had faith in me,” Renfroe said. “But ultimately, the biggest thing for me is my identity is not in football – my identity is in my faith in Christ and knowing no matter what that at the end of the day, that’s still the most important thing to me. It helps me get confidence and move past that.”
“I worked with Brooks Buce, our kicker from last year, a lot. I’ve got a couple of kicking coaches that I work with still. Obviously our strength staff with coach Whitt and coach Collin – they really helped me out a lot. “Ultimately, just feeling good in myself and having good contact really creates the confidence I need to go out there.”
