A man is in custody on Monday after an hours-long standoff in the north suburbs, police said.
A home invasion suspect was placed into custody after 2.5-hour police standoff in on Lexington Road , South Barrington police say. South Barrington police said they responded to a call in the Lakes subdivision around 12:45 a.m. near Lexington Road for a report of a home invasion.
Although residents tried to stop him by grabbing his shirt, the suspect managed to run away, according to South Barrington Police Chief Michael Garrison. "I heard a bunch of noise and women screaming," said neighbor Darrell Cronan. "I thought it was inside my house, it was so close." "We were able to get him into custody without incident," said Chief Mike Garrison. "Nobody got hurt. Everybody was safe, which is the goal in anything like this."
