A family in West Mobile has a new home just in time for the holidays.
You’ve heard the saying- “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Where an old home in West Mobile was once condemned and demolished by the City of Mobile now stands a magnificent, new brick house.
The home marks the 4th house that’s been built by the City of Mobile’s HOPE program. Hope is a voucher-to-home-ownership program that aims to create affordable infill housing and promote homeownership for financially disadvantaged individuals in Mobile County. Mayor Stimpson says one of the biggest challenges the Port City has faced over the past decade is providing affordable housing.Mobile City Councilmember Josh Woods says this home is the first HOPE house in his district, and it happens to be in his neighborhood.
Rashawn Figures says his construction company, Dortch, Figures and Sons and is excited to be a part of the affordable housing mission. Figures says the 1500-square-foot house comes with all of the bells and whistles.
