“So I am a Christmas fanatic,” said Amanda Brudowsky. “It’s my favorite season. My husband? Not so much.” However, Brudowsky said that her husband Ed does enjoy coding, tinkering and “things that are shiny.” So when they moved into their home at 1793 Empress Drive five years ago, and found their home the only one in the neighborhood not decorated for Christmas, it got them both thinking. “I said, it would be fun to be one of those houses that can sync their lights to music one year,” Brudowsky said. “The following year, he was like ‘I think I want to do that. I think that would be fun.’”This is the Brudowskys' third year of decorating their home with lights synched to a Christmas playlist, which they broadcast on 106.3 FM (and now digitally via a QR code found on their porch). Together, the family plans out yard displays and writes the code necessary for the light shows and crafts the playlist. The whole process begins months in advance, Brudowsky said.
