EXCLUSIVE: Labour MP Ian Murray said he 'absolutely' supported the policy even though a number of his constituents would be affected.
Holyrood will receive a £150m cash windfall if Keir Starmer becomes Prime Minister and slaps VAT on private school fees.
With Starmer signalling a Labour Government would have little money to spend, his party is aiming to raise £1.5bn across the UK by adding tax to fees. The issue is tricky for Murray personally as he is an MP in Edinburgh, a city where over 20 per cent of children attend private schools. Murray has a three year old daughter and said she would attend a state school: ”I’m a Western Hailes boy.”
