A Holocaust survivor who narrowly escaped the clutches of Hitler’s Nazi forces before fleeing to Scotland has died aged 100. Nicola Sturgeon has lead the tributes to Henry Wuga, who was a teenage Jewish refugee who fled to escape the horror of the Holocaust . He and his partner Ingrid exited Germany as part of the Kindertransport – a humanitarian programme for children and young people fleeing persecution in 1938 and 1939.
The Jewish refugee made Scotland his home, marrying Ingrid and managing his own catering business. On Sunday, the Holocaust Memorial Trust revealed that Henry had sadly passed away. The charity's chief executive Olivia Marks-Woldman said: "We are heartbroken at the passing of Henry Wuga MBE. Henry was a gentleman: charming, dapper, and above all, a force for good. "The work that he, and his late wife Ingrid, did in sharing their testimonies, made an immense impact on thousands of people across Scotlan
