From mermaid singers to three dresses and a gravy fountain, Holly Hagan's wedding had it all!
After two years of planning and even cancellations, Holly Hagan and Jacob Blyth are over the moon to have finally walked down the aisle to say ‘I Do’.
The bash took place on the rooftop at the stunning Aguas de Ibiza luxury hotel in Ibiza earlier this month, and the newlyweds exchanged their vows in front of 56 of their closest family and friends. As for how the day panned out, it kicked off with the tearful ceremony, followed by a luxurious three-course meal.
Holly: Bearing in mind I hadn’t seen him cry once in our relationship, so I wasn’t expecting much. It was such a magical experience.We did it over a week, with a big fancy dress meal, we did a day after [the wedding] at Nikki Beach and it was so nice to see my parents speaking and getting on. The bringing people together aspect was the best part for me.Holly: We tried to do it traditionally – we had no contact. Jacob had a different hotel room and I stayed with my friend and make-up artist.
I was very nervous and when I saw the bridesmaids walk down the aisle I started to well up, so I said to my man of honour Tom, “Say something funny – make me laugh.” The beginning of was really difficult and people were quite nasty in the street, so I would have panic attacks quite often. I had my second dress, which I wasn’t going to change into until the evening, but as soon as I got back down the aisle, I said, “I’ve got to get changed – I cannot spend the day in this dress!”
Holly: We had our personalities in there. I mentioned about Liverpool FC annoyingly playing at 8pm and ruining our Netflix and chill.Holly: I’ve shared my whole journey with Charlotte and Sophie and they’ve become more like sisters – but we’re all so different, we dress differently our attitudes are different.
But she said, “Holly, I really underestimated how difficult the recovery was going to be, so unfortunately I won’t be able to be there.” It was getting to the point where it was affecting my day. I thought, “I’m going to mute her account so I don’t have to see it.”I hadn’t spoken to Chloe until we did our reunion show – it had been about two years since I’d spoken to her.
Fair enough. You’re both into healthy living and fitness. Did you ramp up your routine before the wedding, Holly? I started to do little things from home. I lost 23lbs in 21 weeks. We’ve all been there, we’ve all been on the crash diets. And I’ve looked into it and most people with eating disorders are overweight, but it’s misdiagnosed and nobody takes them seriously because they’re not in a life-threatening situation.
Fast-forward five years, here we are married! Me and Jacob took it really slow in the beginning. As much as we didn’t ever stop speaking, I had my guard up and waited until he showed me he’s a nice person.
