All Ranges are luxurious; now prepare for what's said to be the most luxurious yet...Overfinch, Range Rover and Holland & Holland feel like such a perfect triumvirate of British brands, the Blur, Radiohead and Oasis of the British upper classes, that it’s a surprise something like this hasn’t happened sooner. In its 190th year, this is the Holland & Holland Edition, conceived to create ‘the most luxurious Range Rover ever built.’ Which is some claim, given all who have given the iconic SUV their own twist over the years. There will be just 25 of these Editions produced, each ‘for the discerning shooting enthusiast and collector.’ Green and tan fans, moreover, will find plenty to like here. This being a Holland & Holland Edition, guns are a prominent theme throughout. Indeed the entire vehicle concept is said to be inspired by the flagship ‘Royal’ Side by Side shotgun made by the London company. Hopefully those who know a little more about firearms than us can identify the tangible links. And yes, before you ask, there is gun stowage; in the boot there are ‘Companion Chests’, which ‘may be commissioned by clients wishing to elevate their edition to an unprecedented level.’ So that means two shotguns can go in the lower one, complete Holland & Holland plaque alongside eight whisky tumblers, two decanters and two more ‘sizeable’ hipflasks. With champagne, also for eight, in the top chest. Keeping shotguns with alcohol sounds like a tremendous idea. The rest of the Edition interior is extraordinarily lavish. There are three colourways available for the 25 cars, all very generous with the leather and designed ‘to complement the vehicle’s refined sporting character’. So full London Tan Bridge of Weir is possible , or you can have Harris Green up front and London Tan for the rear seats. Or, finally, green and tan throughout ‘for a more understated yet equally sophisticated aesthetic.’ While some might see it as just a tad OTT, there’s no denying this is all a level above a regular Range Rover. And that must be the point of a Holland & Holland Edition by Overfinch. Look at the doors, for example - yes, that’s diamond alongside the French walnut, because that’s what the H&H shotguns’ stocks are like. The seats are monogrammed and also embroidered with ‘sporting scenes’, with enamel badging and golden Holland & Holland crests throughout. Seemingly ‘no’ wasn’t an acceptable answer when choosing spec options - everything is here. If the boot wasn’t sufficient, there’s more booze storage in the shape of a champagne cooler. The outside of the Edition is no less opulent. Doesn’t sound ideal for, y’know, actual off-roading, but it’s undoubtedly attention grabbing. The 23-inch wheels have a Rolls-style self-levelling centre cap, and the side vents are solid aluminium. The ‘Royal’ scroll that’s so inextricably associated with Holland & Holland, and which features in that spectacular interior, can also be found outside. An Overfinch logo can be found in the rear light bar. Suffice it to say onlookers will be in no doubt about this one’s special status; there are green over tan Range Rovers, and then there’s the green over tan Holland & Holland Edition. Overfinch will build these from SV-spec Range Rovers; a car can be given to them for conversion, or customers can pay for a complete vehicle. Nothing has been mentioned so far of the powertrain; the V8 seems most fitting, though considering this is an exercise in ‘fusing the spirit of sporting heritage with the unmistakable presence of the modern Range Rover SV’, there seems no reason why other engines can’t feature. Paying handsomely for the privilege of Edition ownership seems guaranteed, of course, because look at this thing -from the factory is going to be just the start. An actual Edition price is hard to nail down because each specs will vary; a car without the Companion Chests is going to be a lot less than one with, for example. But just bank on a heck of a lot, to be sure. Kevin Sloane, Chairman and CEO of Overfinch, said: “There is a rare synergy when two icons unite. The Holland & Holland Edition is more than a vehicle; it is a true statement of craftsmanship, quality and distinction. Together, we have created a Range Rover that embodies British excellence in every sense. There is nothing else quite like it. The Holland & Holland Edition is the culmination of countless hours of meticulous craftsmanship and British workmanship at its finest, a creation that reflects the passion, precision and artistry of those who built it.” Presumably commissions will be underway sooner rather than later, to make the most of the respective anniversaries. Finally, if the Holland & Holland Edition has you in the mood for a green Overfinch Range Rover, but perhaps a slightly less overt one,
