Kotb received an outpouring of support from fans and former colleagues, including Jenna Hager Bush, who commented, 'Missing you and loving this ❤️.' Kotb's departure from the Today show after nearly three decades at NBC came as a surprise to many. She cited her daughters, Haley, 7, and Hope, 5, as the primary motivation behind her decision to pursue new opportunities. 'I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60, and to try something new. This is the right time for me to move on,” she said. Kotb emphasized that she wasn't leaving NBC entirely, stating that her time there had been the 'longest professional love affair of my life.' She expressed gratitude to her colleagues, including Savannah Guthrie, Jenna Hager Bush, Al Roker, Craig Melvin, Carson Daly, Sheinelle Jones, Dylan Dreyer, Libby Leist, Mazz, and Talia. Guthrie, Kotb's former co-host, told Us Weekly that she understood Kotb's decision to prioritize family. 'We have these little kids that we both feel so lucky that we got to have later in life. It makes a lot of sense to me what she has decided,' Guthrie shared. Kotb's final episode aired last month, followed by a week-long 'Hoda-bration' in her honor.
