With this wicked weather expected to bring heavy snow, some areas are expected to get hit harder than others, such as Hocking County. When ABC 6 drove into town, our crews saw early ice that made roads slick, and it cumbersome for people to get to work.

Still, it didn't stop people from packing parking lots at grocery stores and hardware stores trying to get their last-minute winter needs. "We happened to be in town today, so we’re trying to get stuff done before we get trapped out in the country," Brennen Hartley and Lacey Saving, who were seen stocking up on supplies, said. The couple has been cutting extra wood for their woodburning stove, which is their primary heat source. "The wood-burner is a main factor, isn’t it. It’s how we get the majority of our heat," they said. "We have a furnace too, but if the power goes out, it’s not going to be much help." The couple shared how in past winter storms, they've lost power, and they're afraid this storm will be no different.With the hills and windy roads in rural parts of Hocking County, Hartley and Saving said it will be nearly impossible to get extra groceries or essentials once the storm hits."We’re trying to buy as much as possible, so we’re stocked up," Saving added. The couple said they bought extra gas for their furnace and bottled water. Saving said her dad will be bringing extra salt he has for the driveway. Debbie Smyers, another resident, was spotted at a grocery store in Logan, gathering essentials like cereal and coffee.Smyers said like Hartley and Saving, she too has a steep driveway, which can be tough to navigate when it gets icy. "It’s pretty steep, and it’s curvy," she said. "We got an embankment over on one side, so if it’s slippery you could go over the bank.""Both of our vehicles have four wheel drive so if we need to we can get out. If the storm hits as big as they’re saying then I can just walk ," she said. "The only thing that I’m going to buy extra is feed for the horses." However, she emphasized the importance of checking in with friends and family during the storm to ensure they have heat, water and electricity.Brisk winds today, with scattered light snow/mix showers today and this evening.
