He had waited three years for this moment. The Bayonne girls soccer program that he’s in charge of had waited much, much longer.For the first time in the 16-year history of the Hudson County Tournament, there’s a new program on top.
The last team to defeat them was Bayonne. The Bees broke two runs on Thursday night at Red Bull Arena and celebrated appropriately. After getting so close last season and falling in PKs, and also losing to Kearny in 10 HCT title games over the years, this specific championship meant everything and more.“To me, this means redemption,” senior Iliana Sanchez said. “I tore my ACL against Kearny two years ago. I wanted so bad to come back and win this with my team, especially in my last year. This for my coaches, my town, myself, and everyone that’s helped us throughout this journey.
