The work is part of the 2024 National Arts Festival programme and is performed by the Sibikwa Arts Centre.

Ariane Mnouchkine and Théâtre du Soleil created the work in 1974 and the French Institute of South Africa helped bring it to the country. The scope of the play is broad, covering the exploitative rule of King Louie XVI, the storming of the Bastille, the internal politics of the monarchy, the forging of a political system after the revolution, etc.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
