The bell will toll once again for students in the Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 8PM for most of WNY. Strong to locally severe storms will be possible through this time.A bell originally installed at the Red Brick School in Clifton Springs back in 1971 was rededicated during a ceremony Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Students prepared history presentations on the bell, which is now located in front of the Midlakes One-Room Schoolhouse in Phelps .
Phelps, N.Y. — The refurbished school bell originally installed back in 1871 at the Red Brick School in Clifton Springs was rededicated Tuesday. It will now be located outside of the"It took a really long time to practice the poems and practice the pledge, and it was just really cool," said student Hartley Frost. "It felt good to get the bell back to where it belongs."
The Midlakes One-Room Schoolhouse, located at the Midlakes campus on State Route 488 in Phelps, is open to the public and hosts tours regularly.
