FORT WORTH, Texas — An historic Fort Worth city pool is reopening for the summer after $15 million in renovations.The Forest Park Pool, which sits off Forest Park Boulevard on the back side of the Fort Worth Zoo and dates back to 1922, has been shut down over the last year as crews have worked on extensive renovations. The project was funded through a 2022 bond program approved by voters.
The rebuilt pool will include eight 50-meter swimming lanes, which is an Olympic-size pool, a new bathhouse, a leisure pool, a water slide and various interactive water play features. The ribbon-cutting Friday evening will include synchronized swimmers, the TCU pep squad and swim team and the O.D. Wyatt High School drumline.The pool - which costs $5 admission for children, $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and military - will be open on weekends only, plus Memorial Day, through June 9. Then the full season gets started June 11-August 11, with the pool closed only on Mondays. The pool schedule will return to weekends-only, plus Labor Day, from Aug. 17-Sept. 2.
