Leuchtenburg’s notable books include “Franklin D. Roosevelt and the New Deal” and “The Perils of Prosperity,” a history of the U.S. from World War I to the peak of the Great Depression.
Leuchtenburg’s books on Roosevelt covered his presidency and beyond. “In the Shadow of FDR,” published in 1983 and periodically updated, demonstrated how presidents from Truman to George W. Bush attempted to shun and/or embrace Roosevelt’s legacy.
