Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton predicted that should Donald Trump win, he could pursue violent ends to his opposition in politics and in the media.
Clinton appeared on the podcastin an episode that aired Friday, where she spent the majority of the nearly 45-minute interview discussing Trump, who beat her in the 2016 presidential election, and his supporters. During the interview, Clinton suggested Trump might take a page out of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s book should he retake the office.
“Trump was like, you know, just gaga over Putin because Putin does what Trump would like to do: Kill his opposition, imprison his opposition, drive journalists and others into exile, rule without any check or balance,” Clinton said. “That’s what Trump really wants.” The former Secretary of State didn’t stop her comparison there, going as far as to say that Trump “is modeling himself after” Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China and Kim Jong-un of North Korea. She suggested his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, which he lost to PresidentThese comments come months after Putin’s opponent, Alexei Navalny, was announced to have died while in a Russian prison. Navalny was missing for 11 weeks before his death was confirmed by the Kremlin.
