Hillary Clinton has joined a growing roster of prominent Democratic leaders who have thrown their support behind Jackson Lee.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton endorsed U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee for mayor, making her the latest high-profile Democrat to support the congresswoman’s candidacy. “Her relentless efforts in Congress prove she has the experience and vision to lead Houston into the future,” Clinton said in a post on X Wednesday morning. “She's always been a fierce champion for her constituents, and I have no doubt that she'll bring that same fire and dedication to her role as mayor.
Sheila Jackson Lee wants to 'come home' to Houston, but is Houston ready for her return? Jackson Lee’s main opponent, state Sen. John Whitmire, is a longtime fixture in Houston’s Democratic scene, as well. He has been endorsed by a number of local Democratic leaders including U.S. Rep Sylvia Garcia and state Sen. Carol Alvarado.
