In response to recent attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas, the Hill Air Force Base has suspended its Trusted Traveler Program, requiring 100% identification checks for all visitors 18 and older.

The Hill Air Force Base has suspended its Trusted Traveler Program , which allowed active and retired service members to vouch for their visitors, in an effort to enhance security following the recent attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas. On Friday, Jan. 3, it was announced that bases across America were ordered to suspend the program by U.S. Northern Command “due to the recent attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas,” a spokesperson confirmed to an outside news source.

The Trusted Traveler Program was initially implemented to reduce the number of visitors who needed to go through a full background check and receive a paper pass at the base visitor centers. Instead, it allowed government employees and military cardholders to validate those accompanying them to the base who lacked authorized access. Following the suspension, a 100 percent identification check will be mandatory for all visitors 18 years and older at all Hill Air Force Base gates. Those who do not have a Department of Defense-issued ID will need to stop by the Visitor Center at the South Gate to retrieve a pass. The center is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday
