A building at Hill Air Force Base was evacuated this morning after the discovery of an 'unusual smell,' according to base officials.

Kendahl Johnson, a spokesman for the base, said that the odor was discovered around 9:40 a.m.

The building was subsequently evacuated, and Johnson said "an undetermined number of individuals voluntarily went to area hospitals for precautionary check-ups." He noted that the base is not aware of any serious illness being caused by the smell. "The building is still evacuated as response teams work to determine the cause of the smell," Johnson said.
