Oscar winner Hilary Swank has joined the Yellowjackets Season 3 cast for the next installment of the acclaimed genre-bending drama.

Should the show score another renewal, she reportedly has the option to become a series regular in Season 4, seemingly teasing her character’s potential significance to the overall story. This marks Swank’s first TV project after over a year since the ABC cancellation of the short-lived crime drama Alaska Daily, which only ran on-air for one season. She also recently starred in the inspirational drama film Ordinary Angels with Alan Ritchson.
“Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story, and coming-of-age drama, it tells the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness,” reads the series’ synopsis.
