Singer and actress Hilary Duff and her husband Matthew Koma have opened their home and launched a GoFundMe campaign to help their in-laws recover from the devastating wildfires that swept through their California community.
Singer and actress Hilary Duff and her husband Matthew Koma have been providing support to their in-laws who lost everything in the devastating wildfires that have ravaged the Altadena -Pasadena area. Griffin Goldsmith , Moore's brother-in-law, whose home was also destroyed by the flames, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Duff and her family for their generosity.
Goldsmith shared on Instagram that Duff and Koma had not only opened their home to his family but had also set up a GoFundMe page to assist with their recovery. The GoFundMe page, launched by Goldsmith and his wife, has already raised over $205,000 from generous donors. Goldsmith was deeply moved by the outpouring of support, stating in his post that he had never been so touched in his life. He described the experience as overwhelming, both the loss and the kindness they received. Moore herself shared her own experience of the fires, posting pictures of the aftermath in her community. She expressed devastation and numbness at the destruction, particularly the loss of her children's school and beloved local restaurants. While her family home miraculously remained mostly intact, she acknowledged the widespread devastation and the immense sense of survivor's guilt. Moore and Koma pledged their commitment to helping rebuild their community and support those who had lost everything. The fires have caused widespread destruction, claiming at least 24 lives and leaving many families displaced. As of Tuesday morning, the Palisades Fire was 17 percent contained, while the Eaton Fire was 35 percent contained. L.A. County is under a red flag warning due to the extreme fire danger. While the Hurst Fire north of Los Angeles is nearly contained, a new wildfire, the Auto Fire, broke out overnight in Ventura, burning over 50 acres.
