OUR VIEW: Until President JoeBiden swallows his pride and reimplements President Donald Trump’s successful 'Remain in Mexico' program, the border crisis, which is killing record numbers of illegal immigrants, will only get worse.
The flight of illegal immigrants from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, organized by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is the political gift that keeps on giving. According to the Democrats, this flight so traumatized the immigrants involved that a civil rights lawsuit has been filed on their behalf.
And the Biden administration is even trying to blame the border crisis, a crisis that Biden started 18 months before the DeSantis flight, on DeSantis. It’s good to see a Biden administration official finally acknowledge, after creating a full-blown crisis, that there are “pull factors” drawing people to enter the U.S. illegally. But it is laughable to claim that it is the free bus rides from Texas and Arizona to the East Coast that are causing them to come.
Fischer is right, but she is wrong about people having a right to come to the U.S. Nearly 7 million immigrants have fled Venezuela since 2014. They have been living safely and free from government persecution in other countries for almost a decade now. There is no reason for them to come to the U.S. specifically, and they have no legal right to come here. There is no universal human right to move to whatever country on Earth you want.
