The body of a hiker who fell from Arikaree Peak in Grand County on August 28th has been recovered after over a month of search and rescue efforts. A specialized team from Wyoming Search and Rescue successfully navigated the challenging terrain to retrieve the body.
The Teton County Search and Rescue helicopter and personnel on Oct. 3 helped the Grand County Sheriff’s Office recover the body of a hiker who died after falling at least 300 feet off Arikaree Peak on Aug. 28. The recovery had to be suspended due to the difficult terrain where the body landed. The body of a hiker who fell between 300 and 400 feet off Arikaree Peak into Grand County on Aug. 28 has been recovered after over a month of search and rescue efforts.
This specialized rescue team offered “additional equipment and technical expertise,” according to the release. They were able to safely navigate the terrain that had posed a challenge to previous recovery efforts.
