A man hiking with his wife in New Hampshire died Saturday after falling 300 feet off a mountain, officials said.
The couple were hiking Mount Willard in Crawford Notch late Saturday morning, the New Hampshire Fish and Game said in a statement. The couple began to take photos when they reached the summit of the mountain, but the hiker's wife"heard her husband yell" and noticed he was falling off the edge of the mountain, officials said. Mountain Rescue Service technicians who arrived on the scene had to navigate icy conditions to reach the hiker.
