The Santa Ana winds are bringing a High Wind Watch and Fire Weather Watch to certain areas this week. Expect strong winds and elevated fire danger, peaking on Wednesday.
The Santa Ana winds are right around the corner! With them come a High Wind Watch and a Fire Weather Watch for certain areas this week. In the meantime, Monday will be another beautiful day with sunny skies and above-average temperatures. Coastal and inland neighborhoods will be anywhere from 1-5 degrees above normal, while the mountains and deserts will be closer to 10 degrees above normal.
Then, Tuesday evening, Santa Ana winds start to make their presence felt, triggering a High Wind Watch inland and in the mountains from 7p Tuesday until 4a Thursday. Wind gusts could climb all the way up to 50 mph, while some wind prone slopes and passes could see them hit 75 mph. A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued inland from Wednesday morning through Thursday. The winds, and our fire danger threat, are expected to peak on Wednesday, and should taper off by Friday.
