Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani has made history by becoming the first player in MLB history to record 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a season. Ohtani accomplished the feat in style by clocking his 49th, 50th and 51st home runs and 50th and 51st stolen bases of the year during LA’s 20-4 win over the Miami Marlins.

DAVID MUNDEE and JON JOHNSON Dothan Eagle Sports Writers Providence Christian quarterback Craig Pittman rushed for three touchdowns and threw for two, Tyler Sharp rushed for two scores and the Eagles contained Geneva County running back sensation Brendan Hall during a 56-30 win at the PCS campus.

Geneva County scored a 27-yard Caden Hutchins to Jamarion Williams pass and a two-point conversion, cutting it to 14-8. Hutchins scored on an 11-yard for Geneva Conty and the Dawgs added a two-point conversion to close the gap, but the Eagles scored on another two-play drive with Pittman racing 44 yards for a touchdown. Central-Phenix City 34, Enterprise 21: Enterprise led 14-13 at halftime over Class 7A, No. 1-ranked Central of Phenix City, but the Red Devils rebounded in the second half to take a 34-21 victory. The Wildcats extended their lead with 5:28 to play in the second quarter when Mason Burkhardt connected with Andrew Purcell on a 27-yard touchdown throw.

But Central put it away with 1:45 left when Williams completed a 6-play, 83-yard drive with a 6-yard touchdown run.Elba 57, Brantley 53: Elba’s Alvin Henderson scored on a 1-yard run with 37 seconds left to give Elba a 57-53 win over Brantley in a back-and-fourth battle of state ranked Class 1A teams.

The Elba defense earned three turnovers in the game – two interceptions and a fumble recovery – and also recorded a safety. Montgomery Academy 41, Northside Methodist 16: The Knights scored a season-high in a 41-16 loss at Montgomery Academy. Cottonwood 48, Samson 7: No. 4-ranked Cottonwood remained unbeaten as King Campbell rushed for 104 yards on eight carries with four touchdowns to spark the Class 2A, Region 2 win.

Late in the third quarter, Campbell scored on a 51-yard run to make it 48-0 before Samson added its late score. Williams rushed for 82 yards on 15 carries and threw for 64 yards on 4-of-12 passing. Cameron Richardson caught three passes for 55 yards.Pike County 19, Ashford 6: Three second half touchdowns from Pike County’s Braylin Jackson helped the Bulldogs rally from a halftime deficit to defeat Ashford Friday in Brundidge.

Greenville 52, Headland 22: Kameron Sconiers had two rushing touchdowns for Headland in the Class 5A, Region 2 loss on the road.The Rams fell to 2-3 overall and 0-3 in region play. Greenville improved to 3-2 and 1-2.Mock also caught three passes for 100 yards. Tanner Sizemore was 7-of-23 passing for 136 yards.

Pike Liberal Arts 61, Barbour County 12: Pike Liberal Arts seized a 35-0 lead in the first quarter and rolled to the win, amassing its most points since joining the AHSAA in 2022. Ahmod Billins threw for 103 yards off 6-of-15 passing with a touchdown and Alec Spann had four catches for 100 yards. Drashon Bussey added a rushing touchdown for Abbeville.
