The annual Providence Christian-Houston Academy football rivalry will be a little more historical than normal.

This year’s game is also the first time the teams will play each other in November and is the latest calendar playing date between the two, who have previously met as late as Oct. 27 on two occasions, including last year. The series has been dominated lately by routs with the last eight meetings decided by 21 or more points. HA won the last three games by 42, 35 and 52 points after PCS won by 23, 35, 35, 21, 34 points and 18 points.
Similar numbers: The Raiders and Eagles are posting similar scoring numbers, offensively and defensively. HA ranks 10th in Class 3A with 34.2 points a game, while PCS is No. 10 in 2A with 36.0 points a game. On the flip side, Houston Academy is fourth best in 3A in fewest points per game at 11.0, while Providence Christian is 17th in Class 2A in points allowed at 18.7, though the number goes down to 14.0 taking out the Cottonwood game.
Both Class 7A schools, Dothan and Enterprise, host a team from the state of Florida. The Wolves host Godby of Tallahassee , while the Wildcats entertain Choctawhatchee of Fort Walton Beach .
