Thompson led Veterans Memorial with 17 points in the team's sixth district win on the season, outlasting Buda Johnson, 57-53. The Patriots travel Jan. 28 to face Dripping Springs before returning home Feb. 1 to host the Alamo Heights Mules.

San Antonio Veterans Memorial’s Jamaryon Thompson and Zack Rygg each had 12 points in a 55-51 win over Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial in the other regional semifinal. Brennan edged Reagan 56-54, while Austin Westlake pulled away from Warren 65-55 in the Friday’s semifinals. Warren was led by Aiden Gonzales’ 17 points.Devin Styles scored 31 points, and Barrett Pape added 10 to lead Boerne to a 59-40 victory over Kingsville in a regional semifinal at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Somerset downed Corpus Christi Miller 67-46 in the other semifinal. Cristian Rodriguez led the Bulldogs with 26. Matthew Soto, had 13 and Shane Perales had 11.The Bulldogs play reigning state champion Cole for the regional crown at 1 p.m. Saturday.Senior Melissa Hornedo scored 27 points to lead Antonian to a 64-54 victory over the Village School from Houston in a TAPPS Class 6A state semifinal held at Waco University.Antonian will play Plano John Paul II for the state title at 6:30 p.m.
