DAVID MUNDEE The cell phones were busy for high school basketball coaches and the local basketball referee association on Thursday after school closings for Friday forced postponements and cancelations of games.
If the teams do meet, they will play in the day, starting with the junior varsity boys at 2 p.m. The varsity girls would follow, likely around 3:15-3:30 p.m., and varsity boys after that around 4:30-5 p.m. All the other games for Friday were postponed or cancelled. Most of those games have shifted to Saturday, including a rare morning game because of a lack of referee availability. That morning game features Northside Methodist at Wicksburg, a Class 3A, Area 3 contest, starting at 9 a.m. with the girls game, followed by the boys game.
