‘High Fidelity’ Review: Giving a Cult Classic Another Spin

Zoë Kravitz stars in Hulu’s 'High Fidelity' reboot about a record-store owner with a romantically messy past

Vinyl is back. So is “High Fidelity,” which 20 years ago was a culty John Cusack movie about a failing record-store owner whose love life looked like an LP left on a hot stove.

In the new Hulu series of the same name, our hero—still called Rob—is played by Zoë Kravitz , who like Mr. Cusack regularly breaks the fourth wall, fuming, mourning and exasperating her audience with tales of amour fou. The demographics have changed. The music really hasn’t. And neither have the reasons that this adaptation of a Nick Hornby novel was so engaging to begin with.
