IPOH: A High Court here will decide on March 31 whether to allow the application by Datuk Seri S. Vell Paari for a stay of proceedings in the case of a woman claiming to be the second wife of his father, Tun S. Samy Vellu.

Justice Datuk Hashim Hamzah fixed the date after listening to submissions from both sides in chambers.

However, Meeriam Rosaline Edward Paul’s lawyer RSN Rayer objected, saying Samy Vellu was mentally capable. “As far as we are concerned, he is mentally and perfectly capable of defending the proceedings, ” he added.
