MANILA -- Save the Children Philippines has launched an initiative that allows people to raise funds for marginalized kids in the country while staying safe at home.
Called "Heroes from Home," the fundraiser is for the benefit of Filipino children who are in need of health care, education, and protection amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I signed up to be a Hero from Home because the children need our support now more than ever as they continue to face challenges in these trying times," actress and Save the Children Philippines ambassador Ria Atayde said in a statement. "Filipino children have been suffering from extreme hunger and undernutrition, while a significant number of learners may not be able to return to school or take part in online classes as their parents or guardians face loss of income and livelihood," he said.
